Downtown Street Names Are Very Boring

Today was the omgfirstofficialdayof ComicCon! Yay. But before we could go, I had to make up an orthodontist appointment, in which I got rubber bands. In two words: They suck. D: So even though the orthodontist told me to keep them on 24/7, I’m not wearing them right now. Rawr.

Anywho, I met up with three of my friends, two of whom were cosplaying as Marth and Ike from Fire Emblem (apparently this morning they were walking down the street and some guy driving by yelled “I FIGHT FOR MY FRIENDS” at them). Quite a few people asked to take their picture, so I was like “hurhur, told you so.” We went to the exhibition hall, where they were selling all sorts of stuff, mostly for ridiculously inflated prices. But whatever, I didn’t buy anything. Yet, at least.

We spent about thirty minutes searching for the guy giving out the special limited cards for the new movie “9”, so we could get autographs from some of the actors, including omgElijahWood who apparently played Frodo Baggins in the LOTR trilogy. Then we went outside to stand in line for the Hall H panel, which is usually the best one, so there are super uber long lines (my friends and I got there at 12 for the 1:45 panel). And we barely made it in. ;___;

“I have machine guns… in my BUTT?” – Astro Boy

We got to see exclusive previews of three upcoming movies – Astro Boy, Sorority Row, and (ugh) the sequel to Twilight, New Moon.

From what I’ve seen of Astro Boy, it looks really, really good. Lots of action, comedy, and drama.

Sorority Row is a story about a… sorority group, obviously. They play a prank on another girl, but it doesn’t exactly go as planned, and the girl dies. The girls all promise to not tell anybody what happened, and they try to live life as normal. Then they all get a cell phone picture with a hand holding the “murder weapon”, which is some weird piece of metal shaped as a cross. Commence freaking out. Hooded person starts hunting them all down, and kills a bunch of other people in the progress. The preview was quite bloody – I looked away when they actually “killed” the girl, although there was still a nasty squelch. Gross. It was almost as bad as the Final Destination preview… urp. Now THAT was gory. People getting decapitated by flying, flaming racecars, or falling through the air and getting speared by somewhat-dull fenceposts… ick.

Some of the actors for New Moon were at the panel also, and… it was pretty evident that most of the people (well, the girls at least) were only there for the New Moon preview. Sheesh. But anyway, I was a bit surprised at how… normal these people seemed IRL. And the previews were… rather bad. Well, I suppose that they were supposed to be more dramatic, but I just thought that they were side-splittingly ridiculous. I almost fell out of my seat laughing.

After the panel, we went back outside (omg, the liiiiiight!) and walked into a bunch of giant video cameras. Like, the kind used by TV stations? ZOMG. Lololol. We went back to the exhibition hall, and walked around some more, picking up freebies and suchlike. We were going to go see some other panels, but decided not to at the last minute. Then we ate lunch.

After lunch (well, more like mid-afternoon snacking, because by then it was about 3 or 4), we went back downstairs to the exhibition hall to walk around some more. My favorite part was probably the Squeenix section. They had tons of figurines and stuff like Materia pendants (Holy and Meteor from VII), keyblade keychains, the works. I would’ve bought one of everything if I had the money. .__.;; Took lots of pictures, too.

ON COSPLAYS

Saw a lot of them. The variety was pretty surprising, too. I saw a couple Alices from Alice in Wonderland, and a few Wonder Women, and even Ursula from The Little Mermaid. My friends and I almost-literally rofl’ed at that one. There were some (rather poor quality) Shinigami from Bleach, a Joker, and I was even quite elated to see an excellent Ryuk from Death Note. But my absolute favorite was an OC – post-apocalyptic zombie hunter. When the cosplayer said that everything was HANDCRAFTED, I was absolutely floored. She had a working set of wings – extendable and retractable – and the sheer DETAIL of that costume was absolutely incredible. I only wish I had brought the digital camera. ;___;

Tomorrow, hopefully I’ll be able to go to the Hall H panels again – apparently, Hayao Miyazaki is going to be there, so omgsqueeveryveryexcited. Also planning on going to Saturday evening’s Masquerade. I heard the line’s a four-hour wait, but my friends have assured me that the wait is well worth it.

Well anyway, I should probably go put the infernal rubber bands back onto my braces and go upstairs to wash ’n’ everything, I have to get up at six tomorrow and my head is killing me. I feel like I have a hangover. Ugh.

[End 10:21] … hax? D:

Hayao Miyazaki??! No effing way.

As for Twilight, I would have done anything to see Taylor Lautner. I was a fan of his even before this Twilight garbage. GAH I LOVE HIM SOO <3

Ah, I remember seeing the trailer to Sorority Row a couple months back.
Wasn’t it like, some guy cheats on a girl in the sorority, so they plan revenge on him. So he’s making out with another chick in the sorority and then she starts foaming at the mouth, in which he thinks she’s dead. So the rest of the sorority is all like “OMG. WHAT’D YOU DO?!” and they go drive teh “corpse” to a graveyard and when they’re looking for a place to “bury” the body, the boy comes with a cross and stabs her in the heart. Then the girls are all like, “OHEMGEE. WHAT’D YOU DO?! SHE WASN’T DEAD!”
And thus comes your summary 🙂

NOWAI! That’s IMPOSSIBLE!

It was really funny, because for the Q&A section of the panel, people would ask him really long questions that would take more than five minutes to translate, and his answers were usually very short.

“I think, think, think… if anybody has a better way, please let me know.” <---- Miyazaki-san on his movie-creation process.
