and felt like writing something so, uh… hi.

I’m having a bit of trouble processing that it’s already been 3 months into 2025. In some ways, 2025 feels like it’s been going on forever, but it also feels like it has gone by so fast.

I recently went on a trip to Japan (10 days, itinerary here) and I have to say, it really has met expectations. I wouldn’t say the experience blew me away or anything, but the big three cities, Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo were all pretty damn cool in their own ways.

The signs of over tourism were obvious. Crowded buses full of us foreigners, audio ads blasting in the Don Quixote in full Mandarin Chinese advertising various skincare products for Japan’s wealthy neighbors, all this exacerbated by a stagnating economy and a depreciating Yen.

We (me and my wife Katy) were there to take full advantage. Well, mostly her, I only spend my money on virtual goods.

The highlight for me, as with any trip I take, is always the food. Unfortunately, I’m quite addicted to eating (OTC Ozempic when?) but Japanese cuisine does not disappoint one bit.

If you like seafood, Japan’s got you covered. We went to Tsujiki market at the crack of dawn to get some uni and it was the absolute best (judging by her reaction anyway since I can’t handle anything that’s not salmon sashimi).

Not a fan of fish? The cows here are built different. We tried beef so many ways: grilled, hotpotted, sukiyaki’d, skewered, you get the point, and every time it was a 100% certified banger in my mouth.

Vegetarian? idk, I don’t really fuck with salads, it’s why I’m obese.

Anyway, I think the only issue with going to Japan, at least for us, is how far it is. It was essentially a 14 hour flight non-stop, and when you’re trapped in a tin box in the sky for that long, after having read a bunch of news headlines about how President Orange and Ketamine Kid gutted the FAA to buy more Trump meme coin every bit of turbulence becomes a minor panic attack, but I digress.

I also wanted to write something to serve as a small time capsule. The last time I wrote something was in 2020, and all of y’all have been slacking cause there hasn’t been any other entries here since (wtf gang).

Soooo, last time I had just moved from Canada to the United States to meet up with my soul mate, Dest1 (it was written in destiny after all.)

There was then a full on pandemic, the world turned upside down. To be honest, that specific event didn’t affect my bocchi life-style that much. But life comes you fast, and pretty soon I started working, met my first girlfriend via App, as pandemic-ships do, and eventually decided to propose and she said yes in October of 2022. I then went on to get my Yeehaw citizenship, and somehow another 2 years have passed since then.

I feel like despite major life changes I still fall into fairly old habits. I still play a lot of games, still rotating between League and RuneScape of all things, with other various games here and there. I still watch Anime  and dumb reality TV.  I still enjoy VTuber clips. And most importantly, I still hate going outside.

Well that was my quinquennial update (look it up, it’s a real word). I look forward to hearing from the rest of you.

(lol I crack myself up sometimes, I won’t, and it won’t be because of me either)

😊

Nice. First new blog post relaunch.

I might just close new comments on older blogs.

I was kinda hoping that the easy registration process would act as a honeypot for spammers. But it just hasn’t. Maybe the nature of spam has changed. Old VuTales used to get a lot of spam sign ups. New VuTales has had none.
