Milking the money out of my possessions.

At the moment, I currently own the Turtle Beach Ear Force P11s. The P11s are made specifically for the Playstation 3, thus obviously rendering its use with the Xbox 360 to be unavailable. Considering that I have both an Xbox 360 and a PS3, I want my pair of Turtle Beaches to have cross compatibility without the need to drop more money on another pair of stereo gaming headphones. After digging through the annals of information on Google on the use of a headphone adapter with a Xbox 360 controller, I stumbled upon an item called the “XJacKer Xbox 360 Kit.” The Amazon page purportedly states that the XJacKer Xbox 360 Kit is able to:

Instantly turn your standard PC headset into an Xbox 360 gaming headset!

Enjoy full stereo game sound + XBL chat for more engaging gameplay.

XJacKer Game Sound Multi-Cable Supports multiple game audio connections.

XJacKer XBL Chat Cable Enables Xbox Live chat via your PC headset’s mic.

Includes free bonus Beats adapter so you can use your Beats Studios (or any Beats using an iSoniTalk cable) as a Xbox 360 gaming headset!

And saves you a grip of cash for what you really want – MORE X360 GAMES!

XJacKer Xbox 360 Kit Game Sound + XBL Chat

I think I had finally found the answer to my dilemma. After doing some more research (reading the rest of the page), I was disheartened to find out that my PS3 headset did not satisfy the requirements of the XJacKer Xbox 360 Kit. A few page scrolls below the above written text revealed that “As long as it has two 3.5mm jacks, you’ll get game sounds and chat from your Xbox 360.” My lovely pair of Turtle Beach Ear Force P11’s only had one 3.5mm plug and a USB connector.

Down but not out, I further researched and arrived on the XJacKer website, XJacKer.com. Giving a quick sweep of the front page landed me onto the Xbox 360 Kit subpage, where I discovered that the Beats adapter was a 3.5mm TRRS jack with dual 3.5mm TRS plugs. Curious about what that meant, I once again dug through the annals of Google to find the meaning of TRRS jacks and TRS plugs. I found out that TRS stood for “Tip, Ring, Sleeve” and are contacts between plugs and connectors. iSoniTalk cables are TRRS jacks, and the XJacKer Beats adapter is a TRRS plug. Looking at the one 3.5mm jack that my P11s had caused some more distress: it was a TRS jack.

A TRRS 3.5mm jack

On the verge of tears (jknotreallylol), I googled, “TRS plugs and TRRS jacks.” After clicking on one of the results, my imaginary tears of despair were soon erased after a knowledgeable Head-Fi member confirmed that TRS jacks are compatible with TRRS plugs. Based on that information, I can now happily game in peace. YES!

Graphic of how the kit works

And that my friends, is how five minutes of research on the internet can save you 50 dollars worth of suffering.

That would have helped when I bought an expansion without buying the first game first. Was a LONG while back.
