Gosh Darn It To Heck! (Again)

By In Uncategorized

OK, so some of you may or may not know about the game Genesis A.D. from ijji. Currently it's in Close Beta Testing #2 and I've been playing it for the past two days and a half. It's a FPS and it's a pretty fun game, though if you know any other FPSs that are pretty fun let me know via mail or comment. So I'll name a few things about the game.

Inventory

OK, the inventory system in this game is a tad different than normal games. Every character is given Slots. Each gun and grenade take up a different amount of Slots. Primary Weapons usually take up 6 or 7 slots, whereas handguns take up 1 or 2. Grenades take up 1. Characters start out with enough Slots to carry one Primary Weapon, one Handgun, and a Grenade, so about 10 Slots. Characters can get more slots by renting Backpacks in the shop.

Backpacks

Backpacks come in three flavors: Booster, Equipment, and Energy.

Boosters will propel the wearer forward, through the air, at quick speeds. Ideal for quick traveling or getting the jump on your enemies. Because of this, Boosters usually tend to have a small amount of Energy, somewhere between 220 to 360. Usually sport around 13 Slots.

Equipment Backpacks come with a decent amount of Energy, somewhere between 300 to 460. Equipment Backpacks provide a lot of Slots, between 16 to 23.

Energy Backpacks are for those who constantly use Energy that isn't for Boosting. They tend to sport the highest, between 400 to 960. Slots are overall decent, 13 at least.

Grenades

Five flavors: Explosive, Smoke, Impact, Electric, and Flash.

Explosive Grenades is exactly what it says on the tin. They sport the highest damage (100%) but that's basically it. Like other Grenades it flashes red and only very useful for killing stuff. They actually explode on contact if it hits a person.

Smoke Grenades. They deal a small amount of damage (45% or 65%) but release a cloud of smoke as a side effect. Flashes red and may or may not explode on contact.

Flashbangs will temporarily cause anyone who sees it explode to be blind. Deals only a little damage (45%). A guy calls this overpowered but I'm not seeing it. Works as a double-edged sword though.

Impact Grenades are something very different. They deal 85% damage, relatively high, and anyone near the source of explosion who isn't dead yet will be sent flying. Explodes on contact.

Electric Grenades are also something different. They deal 55% damage but may be one of the strongest grenades ever. They flash blue instead of red but when it explodes produce a very large Electronic Field that will constantly damage anyone in it, slowing them down in the process. To escape, simply use the Booster or Dodge Jump out.

Add-Ons

There are currently only five different add-on for several weapons.

Three of these add-on are scopes, the main difference between these scopes are that they zoom further than the one before it.

Another add-on is the Catapult, a Grenade Launcher good for one shot and it doesn't use the Grenade you have on hand. This grenade explodes on contact. I tried to shoot a Grenade from this once and a guy stepped in front of me, causing me to die by suicide. -_-

Final add-on is the Blaster. It uses Energy to shoot the short-ranged Blaster.

The Blaster

Like any FPS, you are given the melee option, a good old chainsaw knife. Not very strong but the usefulness of this is that you don't have to swing it around, simply just run and stab a guy with it to kill him!

OK I lied. The chainsaw knife isn't a great weapon, but it's alternate fire is magnificent. It has a built in Blaster. Now what the Blaster does is a short-range hit that blasts a small area. The Blaster is generally used for jumping or quick traveling since the blast is nonlethal and just send people flying into potentially lethal situation.

OK, I lied again about the Blaster. If you manage to land a direct hit on someone with it, you will either damage them greatly or kill them instantly. What fun!

The Three Sections

Otherwise known as classes. Each class have their own weapons and armor with different types of powers. You can change between Sections in the Locker Room (where all the guns and armor are held), the Item Shop (where people can rent guns and armor), inside a Room before entering the game, and between respawns. In game, you can select which class to change to before you die by pressing F5, F6, or F7.

Assault Section

The Assault Section is the one heavy on combat & defense. The weapons consist of Assault Rifles and Shotguns. All Assault Rifles can be tuned up, where Shotguns cannot. Armor is divided into two types: Defense and Combat. Defensive Type Armor contains the most defense in the game but also gives little Stamina and hinders speed. Combat gives some defense but leans more to speed and Stamina.

Assaults have the ever useful Booster Backpacks, which rockets the user forward through the air. Assaults have the most powerful Booster Packs, which gives only a maximum of 220 Energy and consumes 70 Energy per boost. Assaults also have Backpacks that supply more Energy to act as Shields, though not too much Energy. They also have the Equipment Backpacks.

Assault's Special Weapon is a very accurate, powerful, somewhat fast rifle: The Harpoon.

You can change to this class in the next respawn by pressing F5.

Sniper Section

The Sniper Section is the one with powerful attacks, supplied with meager defense and short-range disability. The Snipers cannot use Boosters but can use Cloaking instead. Cloaking capability and Energy efficiency depends on the armor.

Sniper Armor is divided into Combat and Cloaking. Combat Armor provides the most defense the Sniper will ever hope to get. Some Combat Armor have Cloaking capabilities but with use Energy rather quickly. Cloaking Armor provides the most speed the Sniper will ever hope to get but in exchange have excellent Cloaking capabilities and good Energy efficiency.

The Snipers main weapons are the ever powerful Sniper Rifles and two special pistols. Two of these Sniper Rifles are bolt action and the other two are semi-automatic. The bolt action rifles sport the most power (at 100%) and all Sniper Rifles have 100% accuracy, always.

OK I lied. The Sniper Rifles are horribly inaccurate if not used with the scope or at least in point-blank range, making these not the most ideal weapon for head-on-combat. The best way to get around this is Jump-Scoping.

The Snipers two pistols are actually pretty awesome. The first one fires electric rounds which slow people down. The other pistol is set to automatic fire and shoots 15 rounds. Most Snipers either use the auto-pistol or a revolver as their secondary.

The Snipers' Backpacks are mainly for Energy and Slots.

The special weapon for this class is a extremely accurate Rail-Gun. It has a cross-hair, making this a good weapon for close-combat but can also be Tuned Up, so you can add a scope and use it as a Sniper Rifle. It is an extremely powerful weapon and may be the best weapon ever. Maybe.

Change to this class between respawns by pressing F6.

Supplier Section

The Supplier Section is the one best for extremely speedy battles. This section is equipped with Boosters but it's not as powerful as the Assaults'.

The Backpacks given to these guys are decent, but the best, exclusive one they get are the Energy packs, rising above every other section by at least 300 Energy, the smallest being 720 and the highest being 960.

The Suppliers' main weapons are Sub-Machine Guns. They are all about high accuracy and high firing speed, making this weapons extremely deadly in a fast Supplier. All SMGs can be tuned up. A Blaster can be very useful for this speedy class.

The Suppliers' armor is divider between Combat and Speed. Combat gives the most defense but less speed, whereas Speed will give the most amount of Speed and Stamina, enabling plenty of Dodge Jumps and Wall Jumping.

The special weapon for this class is the Polymer which heals and supplies energy to allies. It damages, slow downs and Interface Screw everyone else- including the user. Not to be used in close range or near corners: It needs the open area to launch the large shot. Has a tendency to stick onto surfaces. Uses Energy per shot and takes up 11 Slots.

Gametypes

There are currently only seven game types, each one with it's own unique map.

Death Match is pretty simple. Kill people until a certain amount are dead. The Unique Map for this is Castle.

CTF is self explanatory. Capture the enemies flag and defend your own. But you need to have your flag to score and you can't see where your flag went after someone takes it. Sterile Six and Granite Cavern are the unique maps.

Sniper consists of using the Sniper Class only in a Death Match styled game. Eagle Eye is the unique map.

Escape involves grabbing a Teleport Control, activating the Teleport, and defend it until it's ready to send you out. Or you can kill everyone. But that gives less points. I actually have no idea how to deactivate it if the enemy team has taken hold of it. The only map for this is ARGUS which is basically a bigger Silo.

Demolition involves blowing up one of two control points. Either defuse the bomb or kill everyone if you're on defense, or plant the bomb and let it explode or kill everyone if you're on attack. Blackout (not to be confused with this Blackout) is the unique map for this game.

Blaster is what the name suggests. People use the Blaster/chainsaw knife only. If you have the Booster or Cloaking, those can be used too. The map unique to this is Duelist, which is cool since it provides a respawning source of Energy, Medi-kits and a Revolver so you can shoot people with. There is also a one time supply of bullets for said Revolver. Everyone tries to kill people for the Revolver.

Co-op is something new in CBT2 that wasn't in CBT1. It's a Campaign of sorts with a maximum of three people. You and two other guys must shoot your way through swarms of weird reptilian monster things and then BOOM stuck in at a wall. Conventional bullets and grenades won't blow this thing up, so use the Blaster. When it finally breaks down (around 10 direct hits) you can crawl through the small hole. You can resupply on bullets and heal thyself. The next section isn't much easier. You're now in this open area and even more swarms of monsters come rushing at you. The objective here is to kill the two Elite Mooks but they are very tough and strong. Attacks consist of a large energy bomb, swarm of lasers, and a roar that produces an electric field. Kill those and the next objective is to radio for an escape. Defend that thing until you need to go activate another one. Bad news! You need to kill two more Elite Mooks. After that's done, a third one is needed. Activate that one and defend all three of those radios for about five minutes. Oh, and now flying UFO things are here shooting lasers at you. Finally, they get your signal! Yay! But you still need to defend those things. Oh, and about three Elite Mooks have now spawned and will continue spawning until rescue arrives. Yay. Eventually, the lifeboat lands and everyone has to get the hell on it. You win EXP and Points! Yay!

That's about it for Genesis AD. Byes~

In unrelated news, there was a huge ass rat thing that was in our backyard last night or something (around 12:30 am) that I totally thought was some dude in our backyard. Then around 12:50 I heard it munching on some leaves. Weird.

EDIT #1 PIX!

Here is a picture of the map Rat Trap.

Here is a picture of the lobby and my Assault character using the Harpoon rifle.

I only read the last two paragraphs.

I’m sorry.

Too long on a game that I wouldn’t even consider playing.
