I know it’s usually done by lethal injection, but there’s no way a few bullets are worth more than a lifetime’s supply of food. I honestly doubt a few hundred mL of anything besides liquid gold is either.
It’s all the damn legal fees.
Blame the lawyers for that!
not just that, inmates are on death row for upwards of decades. all that costs money too. there are appeals, and other legal formalities that all cost the state millions.
Again, not taking sides, just trying to show both sides of the argument.
Well, I’m guessing that a lot of it is red tape, dealing with lawyers, advocates, judges, so on. Look how bloody long it takes to deal with a simple traffic ticket, I have to make an appointment, and then wait 5-6 months to dress up, go t oa court, get called up for literally 3 minutes, and be cleared.
It shouldn’t take 5 months for that. There’s just too much backed up in the system that people don’t want to take care of immodestly.
People want to appeal everything, which makes things hard on judges and people in charge of keeping tracking of all of it. A few people on death row doesn’t sound like much, but when you account for the possible thousands of people that you have to deal with, it takes a long ass time.
