ParticipantYesterday, someone on the official forums of Nexon released the gltich of duplicating gold, which cause a lot of people to riot forth. Due to this, Nexon decided to suspend those who were suspected of duplicating gold.
Over 2700 accounts have been suspended, and depending on the severity of the situation, banning will be dealt accordingly. This glitch has been around since Houses and the Housing Channel were released. Only yesterday did this glitch was made public and into Nexon’s ears. Many people were suspended for unjust reasons.
Quick poll, do you think abusing glitches/cheats are good in an MMORPG?

ParticipantTotally worth it, until you get banned anyway. :3 The glitch was already rlsed on other forums before idiots decided to look cool, or just decided to quit.

ParticipantIt’s good if you don’t mind the risk of getting suspended and have no sense of ethics. That last bit being the part of me that wants to pass the ethics component of my exams speaking.

ParticipantIt’s good as long as I do it in a game I don’t care about.

ParticipantMeh, what’s the point of playing when there are achievements to be reached. >=)

ParticipantWho releases a glitch on Nexon’s Official Forums?
Someone must be stupid. >.>
Nexon should confirm it instead suspecting…11 April 2009 at 18:39 #8017Jil
ParticipantNah, defeats the point.
I mean, if you’re doing it for the purpose of progressing in the game. I can understand screwing around, though.

Nexon should confirm it instead suspecting…It’s been comfirmed on the site. They suspended those who are suspected in using the glitch. 500 houses per server. Alexina doesn’t have anyone running the houses yet, so 1500 people possibly abused the glitch. The remaining 1200 people were suspected as they made high climb of money.
The guild TWpride have a lot of people who were suspected. From what people say on the official forums, TWpride is a power hungry guild. I suspect the leader, TWno1, might have been suspected too.

ParticipantNEXON should hang their heads in shame for letting a glitch like this occur in the first place. When coding VuTales, one thing constantly in my mind is how what I’m working on might be exploited to hack the site, so I pro-actively add in security measures. For NEXON to let duplicating money split through is crazy.

ParticipantI’m OK with every other Nexon out there. It’s just Nexon America that’s horrible.

NEXON of Korea is the one responsible for spliting MapleStory put into so many different versions. I fully understand why they did it, profit maximisation, but it really doesn’t help the players much. I would much rather have a single server, with the same content but different worlds for different languages with language packs. More content for everyone.

ParticipantThat’d be hard, because translators are doing a horrible job at translating.

ParticipantI heard they use Google.

ParticipantAll gaming companies are normally branched out by biggest corporations.
You also have to remeber that if Nexon let that glitch slide by, it would have given them horrible rep. Taking quick and heavy action against it make them look good. -
