this blog.VuMS is going to be run by me exclusively until August 20th or earlier.
If I am unable to run it,
One of two things will happen:
1) VuMS will be shutdown permanently if a VuTaler doesn’t take up the position.2) A new owner will take over.
This will include:
Reconstructing the economy, as well as rebuilding several NPCs so it becomes more challenging, and not like a sugar rush high which is what it is right now. Wiping of all characters except GM characters and people with 50+ rebirths.Expected skills of the new owner:
Knows very basic Java – it doesn’t have to be in depth at all, you only need to know what classes, methods, and how to insert them. I would suggest reading a simple book on the subject. You must however also understand the following:
-Single Dimension Arrays
-For and while, loops.
-Understand how booleans work.
-Understand how if, and switch statements work.That’s about it – it takes only around 4 hours to learn all of the above, perhaps a bit more understanding Arrays, but otherwise, it’s very easy.
Know how MySQL works – you don’t need to know any commands, just how to edit the db, edit things properly, etc. Have a personality that’s calm enough – this means not banning people for a simple offense. Basically, the ability to be Ganzicus/Jon. The ability to make decisions! 😀I think that most VuTalers already have most of the skills required above, with the exception of Java. However, I assume that the more you trifle with something, the more you get used to it.
So, anyone up to the job?
If you do accept, here’s what you’ll ‘inherit’.
VuMS source, basically the entire server, along with the database. VuMS Forums.. kinda useless. VuMS Website files.
And everything associated with VuMS.I would, but I have limited bandwidth and a very weak computer. Anyways, shouldn’t the citizens of VuMS be notified about these changes?
Well, I could host the db on my server, but I’m useless with java, though someone else could do the maintenance.
Oh, my server has unlimited bandwidth.
