I don’t recall if posts in the Forum Games section count, but:
If they do – why is this allowed?
If they don’t – what purpose does this serve?

Yes. All action in that episode happens in the comments for that blog, and then at the end of each day I summarize those comments back into the original blog. At the end of the episode we move to a new blog.
