Wow, why the hell is everyone so nit picky? It was just one comment, no need to spazz on and on about it. Geeze.

If you take offense, whatever. That wasn’t my point, I said it somewhat like a joke, and now it’s turned into this whole pile of srs bsns.

-_- and don’t say I’m the only one taking it that way, that’s just reaffirming what I just said.

David said: If you show uncertainty towards a word that implies absoluteness, the absolute doesn’t take precedence over your uncertainty.

So what would be not an absolute? Like, I really don’t think that there’s a person on this site within that age range that can score 220+?

    It won’t change anything.

By anyone, I meant any one. As in, any one person.

    ._.

    Besides, it’s the truth. -____-;

Like, “The great majority of people on this site within that age range can’t score 220+.” Anyone is defined as an absolute, period. Something being absolute has nothing to do with certainty. It’s absolute in the sense that it remains constant for all scenarios (in this case, every single person at that age). The first time you wrote it you said something like (paraphrasing) “anyone at this site could get a 220+ at that age” which made me think you were saying none of us could have gotten that score at that age. Since I did do that, I was trying to imply that your absolute was wrong.

No, I knew that people could. I did that, you did that, Naz did that, AznRiceFan did that, people did that at that point in time, but I’m saying right now. The thread is for right now.

But currently, there isn’t anyone that could. I’m fairly sure of it. 220 is a hard score to achieve, maybe only 5% of the entire population gets that.

Anyway, Ganzicus, unless you can show otherwise, 220 means 70, 75, 75. I guess a 80 math would be okay, so 70, 70. That’s pretty hard, considering there’s only 5 sections.

I don’t think anyone else on this site in that age range could do, no point. :p

    That’s not an absolute yo.

    An absolute would be:

I know for a fact that there’s no one in that age range (14-16) on this site that can achieve that score.

Notice how I purposefully used the word “think” and “could.” I originally wrote it as an absolute, but changed it afterwards.

I didn’t use absolutes, I said could, and I think.

Anyway, they do have cutoffs. They don’t take it on a national level. If you’re not on par with the State level, you get cut off even if you score higher than people from other States. Virginia has a cutoff of 202, but Massachusetts has a cutoff of 220. They don’t take all of them from a single State, it’s based on how many students are in, or how many take it in a State. So you can still be a finalist even if you don’t have a 220 in Virginia. ._.

To be honest, even the mention is good, it doesn’t matter if you win it or not. Semi-finalist is just as good as finalist when it comes into getting into colleges. Scholarships are a different deal.

That makes no sense though; it’s the National Merit Scholarship.

No, it’s because they compare it to the States in order to qualify for National. In New York, it’s something ridiculous like 220, but in other states where the education system isn’t as competitive (less kids), the cut off is lower, maybe 208. Despite the name, there are different cut offs depending on States. :p

@Nass, my point is this is pointless to say good luck, because even if you had good luck, what’s the point? Unless you’re scoring in the top 200s, which I don’t think anyone else on this site in that age range could do, no point. :p

PSATs aren’t even that important. Unless you score in the 220+ to even qualify for national merit, it’s absolutely pointless. It’s just practice for the SATs.

User list, yes, eventually, if there is enough demand.

List of blogs… No. Though, there will be the ability to filter by tags.

Just do whatever. Usually your decisions turn out to be fine. In fact, usually your ideas work out the best anyway.

No, that account can’t see other boats because it had an age of under 18. >:

So I’m using the same account with Akzev…

Meh. I hope that you can gift stuff with NX. if not, I’ll just have to restart with an Evie or something.
