ParticipantNever had to do aerodynamics in physics. O_o
It’s kind of a bit more complicated than a chapter in an introductory physics course.

Or sling some mud on it. ;D
No, mudslinging is also fighting fire with fire. All the fucking political ads running on television are proof of that.
I’m Christine O’Donnel. I’m not a witch. I’m one of you.
Yeah right, dumb bitch. Then she goes on and on about how people try to attack her on a personal basis. >_> OMG, Sarah Palin of Delaware yo.

However, as n, the number of quotes, approaches infinity, the series diverges.

Now suppose I took the integral of this…
*sigh* so anyway, i like this video cuz it’s funny

Taking the integral of a divergent series gets you a series that diverges even quicker.
Edit: I deleted a combo breaker post because I can. 😛

Like, I really don’t think that there’s a person on this site within that age range that can score 220+?
It won’t change anything.
By anyone, I meant any one. As in, any one person.
._.
Besides, it’s the truth. -____-;
Like, “The great majority of people on this site within that age range can’t score 220+.” Anyone is defined as an absolute, period. Something being absolute has nothing to do with certainty. It’s absolute in the sense that it remains constant for all scenarios (in this case, every single person at that age). The first time you wrote it you said something like (paraphrasing) “anyone at this site could get a 220+ at that age” which made me think you were saying none of us could have gotten that score at that age. Since I did do that, I was trying to imply that your absolute was wrong.
No, I knew that people could. I did that, you did that, Naz did that, AznRiceFan did that, people did that at that point in time, but I’m saying right now. The thread is for right now.
But currently, there isn’t anyone that could. I’m fairly sure of it. 220 is a hard score to achieve, maybe only 5% of the entire population gets that.
Anyway, Ganzicus, unless you can show otherwise, 220 means 70, 75, 75. I guess a 80 math would be okay, so 70, 70. That’s pretty hard, considering there’s only 5 sections.
Right, I was saying that the first time I read it I misunderstood you because of the wording.

ParticipantDavid said: I don’t think anyone else on this site in that age range could do, no point. :pThat’s not an absolute yo.
An absolute would be:
I know for a fact that there’s no one in that age range (14-16) on this site that can achieve that score.
Notice how I purposefully used the word “think” and “could.” I originally wrote it as an absolute, but changed it afterwards.
That’s not the absolute. “Anyone” is the absolute as it covers every possible scenario. Showing uncertainty doesn’t change the fact that you’re using an absolute. “I think I’ll never find someone to love” is still an absolute even with the word “think” in there. I was just pointing out that what your final thought on the matter wasn’t a wise one because of the use of the word “anyone.”

ParticipantYou said no one on this site could do it/have done it at that age. That was your absolute.
Anyways, as I said only the top 30% of semifinalists get the scholarship according to the letters I got explaining the process, so the state really shouldn’t matter in the end. From what I’ve seen they don’t really care about your psat score unless you receive the NMS award. There are a few schools that will offer you a full ride if you’re a semifinalist because they’re desperate for smart people.

ParticipantDavid said:David said:tarheel91 said:FunnyFroggy said: There are different cutoffs for different states. And apparently they change every year. That makes no sense though; it’s the National Merit Scholarship.
No, it’s because they compare it to the States in order to qualify for National. In New York, it’s something ridiculous like 220, but in other states where the education system isn’t as competitive (less kids), the cut off is lower, maybe 208. Despite the name, there are different cut offs depending on States. :p
@Nass, my point is this is pointless to say good luck, because even if you had good luck, what’s the point? Unless you’re scoring in the top 200s, which I don’t think anyone else on this site in that age range could do, no point. :p
Using absolutes is never a good idea. 😉 It still doesn’t matter what the state qualifications are. They still take the the top half of the semifinalists. From there, you have to write an essay and they halve it again (if I’m remembering correctly) based on your score and essay. Really, differences in state don’t matter. They still only take the top ~600 (I believe that’s the number) or so.

ParticipantDavid said: PSATs aren’t even that important. Unless you score in the 220+ to even qualify for national merit, it’s absolutely pointless. It’s just practice for the SATs.Don’t need a 220 to get a National Merit. I know someone who got one with a 208.
