Search for the Light: Chapter 1 – A Cure?
Search for the Light – Chapter 1 – A Cure?
"Hello, my name is Angela Goodspeed, and I'm here with Doctor Rudolph Hos at the John Hopkins Medical Research center in Baltimore, Maryland. Doctor Hos, we must be here for a reason, care to explain?"
Angela held the microphone to Rudolph's mouth. Rudolph spoke with a heavy german accent.
"What we have is a cure."
"A cure to what?"
"Everything."
Angela looked shocked. Her hand quivered for a second and she regained her composure.
"Excuse me… everything?"
"Yes."
Doctor Hos was a man 36 years of age. He had grey hair, a thick accent, and quite the build.
"We gathered 400 people all with completely different diseases, of all races, ages, sizes, etcetera, etcetera. We can keep going on the list. These diseases have all been labled as terminal, and as of yet, no one has found a cure… until now."
Doctor Hos took off his glasses and put them on the table.
"Please follow me."
The doctor got out of his seat and walked down the hall to a door the said "Sector-16, TOP SECRET". He swipped a keycard and the door slowly opened. He ushered Angela and the news crew in.
"How many patients did you say you cured?" Angela asked as they stepped in the room.
"400."
They stepped into a room full of test tubes, beakers, and containers marked "BIOHAZARD". The room was large. About the size of a football field, with a light deficiency. There were was an effervescent glowing of strange apparatus as far as the eye could see. Finally they arrived at their destination.
Just as they stopped the cameraman bumped into a container marked "Crimson", and it knocked over and spilled it into a tank containing a white fluid. The liquid, as it's name suggests, was red, and it tainted the mixture for about a second, but was then enveloped by the swirling white fluid. The cameraman quickly backed off, not wanting to lost his job.
Doctor Hos stepped up to a large platform with a keypad. He punched in a code. A door opened and he led the crew into it. Inside was a leprous man with skin contusions and rotted skin everywhere. The crew winced at the sight of him. He was breathing very lightly, but conscious. The man wore a dark blue hoodie and dark black pants.
"Ladies and gentlemen, what we have here, is the work of God."
The doctor took a syringe, and called for a sample of the white fluid the cameraman knew well. He extracted the fluid from the petri dish and thanked the nurse. He pushed the syringe into the mans skin and the man winced. He pushed the fluid into his bloodstream, and within moments, the man's leprosy was cured.
His skin was completely healed. the crew stood there in awe and clapped wildly.
The man woke. He got up and asked
"Where am I?"
Doctor Hos was about to tell him, but before he could, the man started screaming wildly.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
The lesions and rotting returned to his skin as he began to crawl along the room. His legs bent backwards and his toes snapped to accompany the crawl. The man lifted his head and screamed at the cealing, in a voice almost not human. He violently flicked his head down and the hoodie covered his face. He then stood on the floor on all fours. Then he collapsed. The crew watching, began to panic.
"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?"
The doctor was sweating more than he's ever sweat in his life. He looked mouth open at the man in the hoodie. He looked closer. The man had grew long nails, at least 3 inches long. His legs completely out of shaped.
"Crimson…" the doctor whispered.
Just then, the man was no longer a man, and he pounced on the doctor with lightning speed and let out a screech that could curdle blood. The monster started clawing into Dr. Hos. The news crew ran as fast as they could out the door, tripping the others as they ran back, hoping to buy time. The monster stopped with Dr. Hos and stood up. He crouched, and again, with supersonic speed, leaped out the door towards the crew.
Dr. Hos got up.
Only this time, he was no longer Dr. Hos.

*sigh* These guys should always learn from watching I Am Legend.
I KNEW something was up. Everybody knows you NEVER EVER mix strange things and NOT TELL ANYBODY. Duh. XD
ooo! interesting! xD werewolf? :O
Ha, thanks for the commentary.
I’ll try to add a bit of humor into it, but something based on Left4Dead is usually not very humorous. That may be a challenge… but HEY! I like challenges.
I’ll try to get another one up by Thursday.
The first thing that came to my mind was Dead Space.
AWESOME!
(Story and game)
… Zombies.
Left4dead.
I am Legend sucked, I must say.
27 days later was much better. Or was it 26? O_O I forgot.
28.
Oh, and you do realise that what’s happening is going on at a bio-cellular level, right?
As in, every cell in the person’s body goes through a transformation as rapidly as it started.
That was really good!
It kept me interested, so I can’t wait to see what happens next. 🙂
