Distant Worlds + VUTALES MEETING #3!

By In Uncategorized

So, as lots of you know, me and Taelin, AKA Serena attended Final Fantasy Distant Worlds last night.
There are very few words that are fitting for this experience, and I've taken the last few hours to consider the appropriate choice of vocabulary. These four words are the pieces of language I feel that perfectly describe last night.
It was the SHIT.
Ohmahgawd. It was so epic! I need to invent a new word for how flipping awesome this experience is. I shall describe in as much detail as possible, how amazing this event was to me.

So, at around 6:10, I left my house with my mom to go to the bus stop to ride to the skytrain station, and then depart to Granville skytrain station; the closest skytrain to the Orpheum theater. An hour and a half later, I arrive at the theater. I say bye to my mom, and step into the beautifully decorated building filled with paintings of composers and whatnot. I make my way to the washroom to take a piss, because I don't want to leave during the performance. It'd be rude…
Also, I'm pretty damn lazy.

So I take a whiz, then I go find my seat. I was seated next to this couple who kept talking about touching each other, so that was kinda annoying.
Then, Serena arrived, and I was blinded by the beauty of her presence. I looked very awkwardly at her, she looked awkwardly at me, and she said, "Hi. o.o". I responded with a "Hi." as well, and let the tension soak in. She brought a friend, who I was gonna make a joke about being her dad, but she's Cantonese, so I was kinda scared. D:

Anyway, the Orchestra assembled, and Arnie Roth came out on to the podium, and talked to the audience. After some witty dialogue, Arnie started off the night with the Final Fantasy 7 Battle-Winning-theme. All the while, I was just like, "AHEHEHEHEHAHAHAHA =D". Songs went on, and I heard some songs that I really liked.

To Zanarkand was GREAT. They added a lot of things that made me really happy to have gone to the concert. The biggest surprise for me was the swing version of Chocobo! It was so awesome. They had a screen where they played a bunch of Chocobo clips from the various FF games. Fisherman's Horizon, the theme of Love, etc. Just before the intermission, Arnie announced that if Nobuo Uematsu wasn't so fervently working on the music for FFXIV, he would've been there tonight. Then, he played a clip from Nobu to us, telling us to enjoy the second part of the show. At the intermission, Serena went to buy some merchandise, and then came back. We talked, conversed about taking pictures later, etc. Then the second half of the show started.

So like, the second half wasn't all that exciting until the very end.
It was fucking brilliant.
Arnie announced that the last song was about to be played, and I was sure it would be One Winged Angel.
It wasn't. They played some other song… can't remember the name.
So at the end when Arnie walked off, I was like, "D:".
Then he came back, and he did an encore. This time, I was SURE that would be it.

It wasn't! D:

After that song, he came back AGAIN, and he played One Winged Angel.
Christ Almighty, it was one of the most amazing performances I've seen in my life!
Everything was exactly as perfect and knife-edge awesome as I imagined it to be.
After that, he played the Winning-battle theme again, and we all gave them a standing ovation.
Best 65$ I've ever not spent in my life.

After the concert, I was following Serena, closely, trying to get a photo op for you guys, but in a room of 2500 people, it's easy to get lost. After I lost her, I was like, "D:", and I went ot find my mom so I could get the CDs which were sold out.
I was very much happy with that evening, and we went home.

P.S. GOD DAMMIT SERENA, DO YOU HAS HEARING PROBLEMS? I KEPT YELLING AT CHU! D:

P.P.S. If you don't know the songs I talked about, here are some examples.
