Circuitry P4

For a moment, his mind broke. Was there really someone else out there? Where did they come from? Regardless, he needed to see for himself who or what was responsible for the silhouette in the distance. Rae sprinted across the field towards the figure, determined to find the source. It stood stationary, as if waiting for him to catch up.

As he got closer, Rae began to make out some features. It was human, and female. She was fairly young, about Rae’s age if his judge of appearances was anything to go by. As he approached the girl, he slowed down and walked cautiously up to her, his heart rapaciously grasping for every struggling breath. He could now make out her short hair reaching to about her shoulders. She was little bit shorter than Rae, about an inch. Being about 5’7″ though, Rae wasn’t exactly a giant. She was wearing a white dress shirt tucked into black dress pants as well as a pair of out of place sky blue runners.

“Excuse me..” Rae said, hearing his own voice for the first time in what seemed like years. Before Rae could say anything else, the ground between the two of them began shaking. Bits and pieces of the ground around them began rising into the air. “What the hell?”

The tremors began to amplify, but the girl remained still, not blinking once. Rae looked into her eyes for a sign of life. She had two different coloured eyes; one a deep purple and the other a faint ashen. Shortly after making eye contact her eyes turned a hideous red-like colour that made the hairs on Rae’s neck stand at attention. As more and more of the ground was ripped out, Rae could make out little ripples of darkness in the ground around him outlining the fragments leaving the ground. A sense of despair filled Rae as the area around him was immersed in a monolith of dusk.

“Clarity!” Rae yelled. Light burst forth from his OverSoul illuminating the darkness enclosed area. The girl was still standing there motionless. Rae concluded she was the cause of this event, he started running towards the girl and charge tackled her to the ground. Suddenly, the darkness began to dissipate, the pieces of the ground dropped from the air, and the tremors subsided.

Rae landed on top of the now unconscious girl. Lifting himself up, he looked at her with a sense of bewilderment. He could now see she had quite delicate features. Her eyes slanted ever so slightly upwards at the outer ends like a cat. the shape of her face starting from her cheek bones very slowly narrow into an almost perfect parabolic arc. Her slightly raised cheekbones combined with her other features gave her a commanding look about her, and despite being unconscious, still managed to intimidate Rae.

Eventually he got up and pondered his next course of action. If he took her back, he might be able to as her questions about where she came from, if there were others, and what that power was. On the other hand, if she woke up, it might trigger another event again. Still, the desire to know about her origin overcame the caution that Rae held above his head. He picked her up, and carried her back to the station.
