[QoTW] Las cebollas.

Language can be a pretty powerful thing. It can mobilize millions of people, and if you’re cool enough, it can materialize out of thin air:

I guess for practicality’s sake, I’d like to learn either Spanish or French since in my opinion they’d be the most useful for communicating with people in the U.S. besides English. And I think a lot of people will agree that espanol is the sexiest language in the world:

I took a couple years of Spanish in high school, and I really wish I would’ve started during my freshman year so I could’ve gotten all four years of experience. Then I also had the idea to go with Physics over Spanish one year, thus diminishing my interest in learning. When I finally did finish Spanish as a senior, I didn’t give a fuck anymore. At least I had a lot of good times messing with the AV cables for the TV since the teacher didn’t know how to fix it.

As for French, I took that a bit of that in middle school, but it didn’t seem too interesting. I can say, however, that the French are crazy bastards:

I guess I’d like to mention that it’d be cool if schools in the U.S. started teaching a permanent secondary/tertiary language early on. A lot of places in Europe do it, as I’ve talked to foreign-exchange students who said they’ve had English in school for a while. I mean, I had no real motivation to learn Spanish or something until I found out that a lot of colleges require two years of a foreign language for admittance. If I was introduced to learning another language early in my life and i was a required course, I’d be bilingual now and stuff. But I’m not, and now there’s no hope for me.

I suppose another language I’d like to learn is sign language. It’d be cool to talk shit about people right in front of them without technically saying a word. I can imagine being a translator for a deff (holy shit, is that how you spell that word?) person in which I say out loud what someone wants me to tell the deph (that’s gotta be how you spell that word) person, but what I actually say in sign language is a bunch of shit talk. Kinda like the scene from How I Met Your Mother about when Barney met Ted and made him pretend to be his deaf (okay, finally spell checked the damn word) brother to pick up that def (shit, forgot how to spell it already)chick. So, uh, anybody watch that show? If you’re a chick and you watch that show, wanna go out sometime?
