[FF XIII] Vanille Quotes

Vanille is one of my favourite characters, although the voice didn’t really fit her in FF XIII BUT her inspiring quotes made up for it. When I first heard them, they were quite beautiful and when you really reflect on it, what she says makes perfect sense, even in our society, and perhaps, our personal lives.

So today, I spent most of my day replaying FF XIII, beating it without selling anything so I can farm on adamantoise and adamanturtoise… And as I was going along, I had my MS word open and typed down my favourite ones and here they are:

“Knowing that you’re always welcome no matter what has changed is what home is all about.”

– Its nice to have more than one home sometimes.

“When it comes to home and family, we never keep either as close as we should. Who ever stops to think that this time could be the last.”

– This one struck me hard. Everyday we just walk in and out of our homes, but we rarely show gratitude and appreciation to those who we live with. When it comes to weekend events, anything to do with your friends comes before the daily Sunday Mass at 9:00 a.m. Perhaps it is not that evident, but if you really reflect on it, you do realize that you do put your friends first before home and family. At best, maybe just a 50:50 split.

“Wishes can come true. But not if you just wait for miracles. Miracles are things we make for ourselves. Here and now.”

– Summer jobs. If you want that miracle to happen, start writing your cover letters and adjusting your resumes. No miracle is going to happen unless you work for it. Same can be said about that 4.0 GPA, as elusive as it is, it is obtainable. Its never too late to start, perhaps start now, and make a difference. But beware, making a difference can be easily mixed up with being a pompous.

– Those emotional times, where tears are inevitable. Perhaps we don’t cry straight off the bat, perhaps we cry in secret; it’s all the same. Who’s to say that crying is wrong? A few tears is okay, but for us guys, it’s best if we hide them. Vanille hides them in the rain; we hide them when we’re sleeping or when we’re showering but it’s all for the same cause: sorrow.

– Lose yourself in those days when you were everything to everyone. Those days have existed, but little do you know that they still exist. Those days, where you walked around and helped your first friend in high school walk around because he snapped his shin, those days where you were always invited to those game days at someone’s house because you were an excellent sniper in Halo and CoD, and those days where you sacrificed your family time to help those friends to get those marks for their university. Those were the days.
