I had a friend named Stephanie.
Stephanie was like a sister to me.
One only girls I could turn to when I needed help.
One of the only I could say "Steph, I love you. Seriously, I do."
One of the only girls where I could show up at anytime of the day, and talk to her. And vice versa.
We met in second Grade through our older siblings, but our real friendship spawned in 6th.
She was the only girl I wanted to dance with at our grad party.
The only girl I wanted to sign my yearbook, as lame as I thought it was.
Then 7th Grade came. We were in the same class. It was perfect. We shared the funniest jokes, and all that year.
Finally, it was time for me to leave. Off to my dad's.
When I returned, 3 weeks later. Steph was there, waiting for me.
We talked about 8th grade and our future. I grabbed her hand and pulled her to a sandbox. Around us, I drew a large heart with a big stick.
"Forever." I said.
"Forever." She repeated.
Finally, 8th grade started. Of course, the first thing I wanted to do was compare classes with Steph. But she was nowhere to be found.
I searched and searched. When finally I found her, talking with some other people. I flashed her a grin and walked forward. She looked at me.
A look I would never forget. It was a look of fear. Like she was scared for me.
The girls she was talking to looked at me and started to laugh.
Puzzled, I asked what was wrong. Then it all came out.
Almost every embarrassing or personal story I've ever told Steph in my life. Thrown right back in my face.
"From who did you hear this from?" From the corner of my eye, I could see Steph squint.
"Steph." They replied.
I was heartbroken. I was back stabbed, by none other than the person I cared most about.
Why?
It felt like I had supersonic hearing, I could hear everyone talking about my stories.
Surely, this wouldn't pass without revenge.
It turns out, Steph made a different personality for this school year. Except everyone knows she's fake.
Girl comes home and checks her phone
She fools herself that she's not alone
Everybody wants to be like you
When it all boils down and all this ends
You turn around and you got no friends
Everybody wants to be like you
I helped spread the truth, a missionary of some sort. At this point, I haven't talked to Steph in months, but her most personal secrets still remained in my mind vault. Never to be released, I'm just not that type of guy.
Only if she came around…but she's slowly going down.
Finally, the feud stopped. Summer vacation. Once again, I left for 3 weeks to my dad's.
When I returned. I was informed of Steph's "New personality." Apparently, what I did took a toll on her, and now she's cutting herself on purpose.
And as far as I remember she was standing on the corner
Just the type that loved to be on the scene
Only if she came around…but she's slowly going down.
Then Grade 9 started. I started to see a lot more of her.
We would just stare at each other, not saying anything, not blinking. Just standing there until someone breaks it.
I would really hate to be her think they love her when they see her
When she's gone she just don't know what they say
(An oldie eh?)

High school changes people, usually for the worse. It’s a way of life.
Amen
Its best to just have nothing to do with people like that. There are so many other people who will treat you like a true friend.
*agrees with above*
if you have a friend that you know at childhood all the way to the end of high-school, usually they will stay your friends for life. If you can last through 8-12 then you got through all the crap that couldve broken you guys up. Since she didn’t, she failed you.
aye son you fake as shit son
