Dragon Nest

I’m going to give this to you straight, I’m not a reviewer. I don’t “look” for certain aspects in a game to write about, or run little tests to find little bugs or whatever….
I’m just a player, I see what’s in front of me, and I take it. If a mistake is really obvious sure, I’ll pick it up, but honestly I’m not going in-depth about this whole game, because I didn’t do much research into it either lol.

Dragon Nest: Presented by Nexon!

I’m not really a Nexon hater (at least, not as bad as some of you), sure their customer service is almost as shitty as Bell Canada’s,they fuck up events from time to time and GMs seem to never be around, there were times where the general population was satisfied with Nexon. And since I left MapleStory on a good note (rich and equipped) I wasn’t really phased by downloading yet ANOTHER Nexon game.

So I start the download and pray I have no troubles with the downloader. I tried signing up for the forum but some stupid ass database error didn’t let me.

Took less than an hour to download (new, faster internet what whattt!) and I had no problems.

So I start the game and make my character. It’s all gender locked which sucks ass. Luckily I was gonna be a warrior anyway and he happened to be male so it worked in my favor.
A cutscene later and you have to save this little girl from getting raped hurt by these goblins.
A basic tutorial is given at this time, just some text boxes appearing while you play.

After that, another cutscene and then you’re in town. You talk to this old man who thanks you and whatever. Then they give you the option to go through a tutorial (a real one). Since it was my first time I clicked yes.

After that, you start doing story line quests.

The Story: Nass’ version

Basically there’s a redheaded girl (who gets capture in the beginning of the game) who you are chasing after, and every time you have her in your sights, something happened and she gets taken away.

She’s some sorta Prophet or something so there are others after her aswell, like this dude they call “The Black Knight”

or is it “The Dark Knight?”

…k I don’t remember, but he kicks your ass a few times and steals the girl. Now it’s kinda up to you to get stronger, get allies and go get her back.

Pros and Cons and stuff

I love the action in this game. Skills have cooldowns and stuff and eventually you start forming general combos, making it easy to count the seconds in your head ’till you can use a skill again.

The music is pretty good too.
I’m not a graphics slut, so I don’t mind anything that isn’t an eyesore.

Cons….?
Getting knocked around like a bitch when you’re surrounded:

The game lets you tap a direction to roll away when you’re knocked down, but as far as I know, the animation of hitting the floor has to finish before you can actually do anything. During that time, enemies can juggle you in the air easily and you’ll die kinda quick in the higher difficulties.

Like in the picture above, I was soloing an Abyss dungeon (hardest difficulty) and I was easily ganged up on and killed by those bitch monsters.

I hate how players don’t load in town sometimes. Like you might think you’re the only one, then you go into a shop, come out SUPER LAG and then there’s billions of people around you.

Tips?

Listen to the level recommendations when doing higher difficulty dungeons levels. Just because Hard was easy for you, doesn’t mean Master or Abyss will be cake.
Don’t loaf around for parties. People are too fucking stupid sometimes and don’t mention which dungeon they’re going into. If you got a quest to finish, either scan the list for a party GOING TO YOUR DUNGEON, make your own or just go alone. You won’t waste too much time.
Don’t count on monsters to drop potions.
Don’t count on monsters to get you a lot of EXP. Most of the time you get like 0.01% I’M NOT KIDDING! The source of EXP is from questing, so do as many quests as you can.

Overall I think this is a pretty good game. It’s got some issues, but hey, it’s just Open Beta right?

As a non-player of Dragon Nest, I have absolutely no idea what I’m looking at in the second picture.

The picture was to show how easily it is to be cornered if you’re not careful, obviously this is the best I can do since you can’t really show it unless you have video.

Well, I didn’t mean that I didn’t know what I was looking at, it’s just that from the untrained eye, it just looks like a hodgepodge of WTF.

Dn: too many loading screens, terrible story, mediocre graphics, repetitive gameplay, gender locked classes, boring bosses, fail artificial intelligence, terrible voice acting, subpar party system, it goes on and on. And to think I was looking forward to it…
