'Well, dang it. Where the heck am I? Of course I won't know. Why am I talking to myself? Well, I have no idea. You are an idiot. What? Who are you? I am you, you empty headed animal food trough wiper. Well, I fart in your general direction. Well no you can't because I'm you and you can't fart at yourself. Well I'll use a tube system. Hatch onto my butt and point it at my face, then hah! I fart at myself. You're a looney, that's what.'
The girl walked down the corridor, talking to herself in what seemed to be two entirely different voices, a bizarre progression of expressions showing on her face.
It was a very large corridor, if only vertically. While she would be able to touch the sides of the walls were she to merely stretch out her arms, the ceiling was immensely high, such that it sent waves of vertigo through her whenever she looked up. Geometrical engravings scaled the entire lengths of walls, dizzyingly vast, even under the relatively dim light – though there was no visible light source.
'…And no, birds couldn't have pecked at those walls. Then what, humans? You'd have to be crazy to do all that carvin', I mean it'll take decades from the looks of it. Well they might have had thousands of workers to work on this. Speculation! Mere speculation, that's what. Oh, why bother. Hey what's that over there? Well I don't know. Let's get closer, eh? Oh yes. Walk faster, damn you. I am, in case you haven't noticed, you clueless- Oh, my f:)ckin' crappin' God.'
Well, it seemed like only a few minutes of walking in that corridor, but the walls suddenly ended. This came as quite the surprise- the walls ahead had looked uniformly gloomy a few paces back. But then, the darkness yielded, revealing a doorway- impossibly huge, stretching up into the red hued sky for as far as the eye could see.
The path continued- but this time, it was a path in mid air, with nothing underneath it. Which seemed to stretch into eternity.
Her legs weakened. No, no no no no way. No way was she going there. No, no no no—
She found herself approaching it. Five paces. Four. Three. Two. Her foot was on the path, and then the other brought itself forward.
'Oh, you did that, didn't you? No I didn't, I'm you, and you're me. Stop confusing me, you–'
She looked down.
'–Bloody bastard!!'
Her head suddenly felt light. From the looks of it, beneath her was… Nothing.
It seemed that the sky was not really a sky but rather, a background art piece which was wrapped around the horizon- the only way to describe it. But below her, everything was pitch black. And probably, she was in that Abyss, the only thing stopping her from falling for eternity being that path thing. And even then, perhaps the path extended forever as well.
It suddenly occurred to her that it was impossible to be in such a place, because such a place cannot possibly exist. The sky marked the boundary- And thus the path had to end because there is a boundary – and yet she could not see the end. The laws of perspective seemed to be all wrong here. Besides that, it was impossible to fall for eternity, because space cannot be infinite, by its very nature. And yet, there was no boundary- there was nothing. Atop of all that, there was no light source anywhere that could possibly allow her to see. It seemed like matter here emitted its own light!
'Oh, I feel so joyous, I'm going to be stuck here forever!' She said, throwing up her arms. 'Thanks to you.'
She fell silent.
'Hello?'
Silence responded.
Am I truly alone, then? She wondered. Before her, the sky turned into a solid piece of lifeless orange. It was even more clear, then, that the sky was merely two dimensional.
Her legs continued walking. She wondered if this would continue for eternity.
Yeah I had this bizarre dream a few days ago.
Actually, I correct myself- This is a nightmare. Imagine getting stuck in this kind of world, all alone, with nothing to do- except to walk.
