…And it's fascinating. Not just because it makes the user experience more enjoyable- which it does, by the way. I find the customization offered by jailbreaking fantastic. I'm no longer restricted to doing things inside my apps; now I can change my iPod itself. I get a miniature high (lol nerd) when I install a new Cydia app, when it completely changes the way I do something on my iPod. Or when I find a guide about how to do cool things that I never thought I could do on my device, like access root files to tweak system processes.
Along with playing Maplestory (yes, I seriously still play), iPod customization has become my biggest time-waster.
Anyways, here's my point. If you're a guy who likes to spend way too much time on the computer, jailbreak your iPod/iPhone. Or at least think about it. Because it's pretty nice. And no, I'm not just going to buy a Droid X or something. I realize that you can probably do all of this stuff and more with less hassle by using Android or some other "open" software ecosystem, but Apple products are just so smexy… SHUT UP DON'T ARGUE WITH ME. D:<
My homescreen. At first glance, it doesn't look like much. I don't really care for over-the-top Winterboard themes. I prefer to keep it real-ish. However, beneath it is slightly more interesting.
I have an iPod Touch 2G on iOS4, which normally doesn't support Apple's native multitasking. But mine does. It also supports native wallpapers and the percentage battery. Wooo. My thanks goes to ipodtouchfans.com for its guide on how to manually turn these features on. It took me nearly an hour to figure it out, but it felt good once I finally did (as it turns out, you can also do this automatically with the Features app in Cydia. lol).
And I've got all of the standard Cydia apps- Winterboard, SBSettings, Five Icon Deck, iFile, OpenSSH, Activator, and the such. I also have some less common ones, including iMobileCinema (a light version of Flash for Safari), AptBackup (backup Cydia apps), Cydelete, Remove Recents, and Rock. But nothing really obscure. I hate browsing Cydia, so I just download whatever people recommend.
I skipped Backgrounder in favor of Apple's native multitasking. My hardware sucks to much too support full backgrounding. But Apple multitasking isn't that great either, since most apps don't work with it. So I've had to decide between multitasking that tends to cause all of my crap to crash (Backgrounder) or multitasking that barely works (native).
In the meantime, does anybody have any good Cydia apps to recommend? I can only find so many good ones by myself, so I would love a few suggestions. 😛 And if anyone has some good iPod tips, that would be nice, too.

By the way, is anyone else reminded of Apple when they look at VuTales’ background image?
I find that ironic, since vusys apparently hates everything made by Apple so much. And yes, I realize it probably wasn’t intentional. (Either that, or this is some weird joke I don’t get.)
Are you kidding me? V’s probably the biggest Apple fanboy in this place.

yah, its like the standard desktop the macs in store have 😛
xD apple is boooo D: their customer service is doing it wrong

u doin it rong
Seriously though, a userland jailbreak, although geeks will smirk, is much more convenient than a firmware-based jailbreak that you have to do. I’m not actually sure how you did it.
Anyways, congrats I guess? The only thing I looked forward to was finally getting all the apps I couldn’t buy back when I finally jailbroke. ^_^
And themes aren’t really that appealing anymore, especially with folder management. Apple really has added a lot of the missing features that could only be supplied by cydia before. Granted, true multi-tasking still isn’t here, but I can live with that.

I used jailbreakme. Were you saying that I did or that I didn’t? 0_0
I don’t know, I was confused when I wrote that post, because i just woke up, and I saw your blog, and I was like, hurr, yeah.
I think I thought at the time that you didn’t and used snowbreeze or whatnot. … yeah
Fixed.

@Nass
That’s in essence what I said.
REALLY? You can play MAPLE STORY on your ipod now???? show me the link to where u got it?
(my iPod touch is jailbroken)
LOL iTouch
I want an itouch.
(my iPod touch is jailbroken)
LOL iTouch
That’s not what I meant, though I suppose my sentence structure was relatively confusing. I wanted to say that I spent most of my time EITHER playing Maplestory or screwing around with my iPod Touch.
P.S. Actually, you can play Maplestory on your iPod Touch. Use any remote access app from the app store (i.e. LogMeIn) to connect your iPod to your computer and play Maplestory remotely. There are like a dozen of these apps. It’s as slow as hell, though, so I wouldn’t use it.
