Wow. If you’re going to correct someone, get it right. Offence is the noun while offense is the verb. His form was the noun.

Multiple meanings. Offense means ‘a violation of a law’. It also means the ‘act of attacking’, such as in sports, war, etc. ‘Offence’ is the same word as ‘offense’, just a different spelling. Consult a dictionary before you try to one up someone.
Offense/offence are two different spellings of the same word. It’s not a case like affect/effect (the prior being a verb, the latter being a noun when dealing with their similar definitions).

You can’t suggest that offense is the American spelling if it is also used in the other forms of English. You can only say that offence is not used in American English. I still stand by what I say, if you want to correct someone, get your facts straight x2.
