Der Blog

It was a dark and stormy night, the butterflies were chirping right outside my laundry room window as I looked out to my fridge. There it was, the one thing I had been searching for my entire life. The golden ideal that glowed with an awesome power. It was…a pile of horseshit.

Yeah ok, there's my attempt at writing.

Daily dose.

Didn't HNGH like a mothefucker?

Hope this accomplishes that.

So how was everyone's summer? Well the more relevant question now is, how is school going?

….

I paused there to make this seem more like a regular old conversation. How does everyone like the new feature in my blogs?

….

Ok, moving on. School's ok for me, I guess.
Craptastic schedule, but that's it. Oh with more work, but that's expected.

Dat Schedule:

M/W: Block AP Chemistry, Block APUSH, Lunch, Advisory, Free Block/Study Hall, Block AP Environmental Science.
T/TH: Block AP English Lang & Comp, Block AP Physics(self study), Lunch, Advisory, Latin I, Block Advanced Comp Sci.
Friday: One period of everything.

Currently jamming to:

Moving on now.

Dat During school boring stuff:
Currently behind work in a out 4 of my classes…meh
Got 2 chapters of notes to turn into for APUSH, will delve into later, Summer Assignment for AP English, One 2 page essay for APES(e science), Latin Syllabus, and one programming project for Comp Sci.
Hell, it's 5 classes.
The teachers are pretty cool, cept E science, and don't dole out too much work.
Recently, I've relapsed into my previous bad habits of procrastination. Mostly due to the private tracker I've gotten an account with and my 1.5 TB external…shit's cash.
Personally, I know I should be trying harder this year, since it is Junior year with PSAT and SAT and colleges looking at this year as well. However, I've just completely mentally given up on it all. I'm just sick and tired of it all. I'm sick and tired of the constant bitching coming from my parents. I'm tired of the expectations heaped onto me by my parents and teachers. I'm tired of trying to contribute to society. Honestly, I'd much rather crawl into my room and just watch anime and play CS:S and Cross Fire all day. I think I'm going to stop feeling sorry for myself over the internet right now and delve into another topic. Hope that's ok with you.

….

WARNING: RANTING AND BITCHING AHEAD. PLEASE EXIT NOW IF UNWANTED

Or I'll just put it in this nifty little spoiler tag.

Anyways, mainly going to be ranting on my school system, since its awesome level is OVEterribly low.
So my school is a charter school in this wide ranging charter school system spread all over Texas. Sounds cool. However, it's run by a bunch of optimistic Turks who don't know how the construction process works, or have any organizational skills for that matter. I've been in the system for the last 4 years now so don't get me wrong, I know how they work. They basically try to mass expo as fast as they can without paying attention to their resources. End result? School starting a week late because they failed the building inspection 3 times in a row. With that, the school was still not fully furnished, or had air conditioning throughout the whole building.
They managed to fix some of those problems, but student schedules are still fusked with this being the second week open. No lockers assigned yet, some of the stairs are not finished yet, some rooms don't have enough desks/furniture, computer labs are a mess with outlets not working and whatnot. It's a giant mess. Did I expect this? Yes. Did I want this to happen? No.
I guess this is part of the reason I've gotten tired of everything, a stupid fuckup school.
Another thing is my mother.
She's a perfectionist overachiever, I'm the exact opposite. She sometimes vocalizes her grief over this by saying, "I don't know how you're my son, you're the complete opposite of me." Me too mother, I wonder about the same exact things.
Anyways back to point. She's currently enrolled in a community college to continue her education and hopefully become an elementary school teacher, her dream for god knows how long. The thing is, frankly, she's overworking herself. She can't handle much more then a single class at a time with her poor English, not very bad but still bad, her freakishly strong obsession with going by the book on everything. She doesn't leave herself to think on her own and has to have someone or something else think for her. Which is partly my fault because ever since she started taking these damn classes I've had to check over her work and grammar, which has spoiled her over time into thinking, "I don't have to particularly try, Lee's just going to fix it up and I'm going to get my nice little grade." I'm fucking tired of this bullshit. I'm basically taking my high school courses with all their homework, then I'm doing an extra 2-3 actual college courses a semester because of my mum. Roses.
Another thing is that I have nowhere to really vent this stress. Sure, I have my music, games, and computer, but these things are being slowly taken away by my parents with their study study study attitude that has been going on for the last 7 years. Sports? My school is too small, no such thing here. Writing/drawing/creative activities? I start something up, get to about a quarter of the way through and then realize it sucks and stop. Well not really sucks is the first word that comes to my head, but I'm easily frustrated with these things because they simply never turn out how I want them to be. Drawings? Get a nice concept, draw it out to perfection. Come back 1 hour later, realize that I made a mess on the paper and trash it. Writing? same thing. Other activities? No time.

There's one thing that just really grinds my gears. Taking up notes for a grade. I don't see the point in doing this. You wanna see if we're studying? Give us a quiz/exam. Not some bullshit notes assignment. Take APUSH, am I a notes person? No. I have never been a person who did notes, nor used them very often. Did they help during the times I did them? Not really. Honestly, I perform better just reading the textbook a couple times with an additional cram session before the test, not going over any notes. I guess a response to this would be suck it up, and well I tried. However, I've given up because they're useless to me. I write them once, and forget where they are later on. I'm not the most organized person in the world, and that's not going to change anytime soon.

rant.end();

Ok, now to other stuff.
Got my new skullcandy headphones in the mail on Tuesday, a day early.

These bad boys.
Much better then the free airline earbuds I was using the week prior to receiving them.

Gaming

I've been gaming again. Cross Fire and CS:S mainly.
After a bit of a break I jumped back in and attempted to reclaim my skills with the AWM/AWP.
Cross Fire: With the addition of the new Miami based server my performance level went up with the 20 ping drop. AWM skills are actually better then before now.
CS:S: Too many pros.
Joined a few MS private servers when I was drop dead bored. Dual Blades are, ok.
That's about it.
Oh, played some DDO(Dungeons and Dragons Online). Shit was cash, too bad the trial only lets you get to lvl 10 on a chary.
Played a little Aika, then got bored.

Rocking out to that now

I'm spent. Back to lurking again.

Ciao all,

~DD

I kept up with the skill curve of CAL-O players in CSS about a ago.. I had memorized recoil/spread of the AK and MP5 like the back of my hands.. inferno demo 5v5 you automatically lose

Then I migrated to a more “modern” FPS.. (Modern Warfare 2, ironically)

Anyways I’m pretty sure I could shit on a lot of people in CSS even though I haven’t played in a year.

Cross Fire..? Eh, only competition I had for that game was in WOGL. (wogl.org) AWM was too broken in that game.

As someone who went to a small charter school from 6th to 12th grade, I can kind of identify with you. Organizationally my schools were great. No building issues. However, one was an office building, and the other was an old mill (money is the issue here), so there was still issues with spaces to teach/learn in. I took 5 AP classes and an honors class junior year (six 45 minute classes; less school time and more homework) including APUSH, APES, AP Eng, and AP Physics B (on the bright side I probably had the best physics teacher in existence, but if you’re a logical person physics has two of the easiest APs out there). Make a few changes like Latin -> Spanish and we pretty much had the same schedule.

I’m going to be honest. The work load is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before. However, you’ll adapt and get used to it. I never really studied (I did all of my homework… that was mandatory, and everything, but I never studied for tests, quizzes, etc.), so that part I can’t really help you with, but you will adapt to the workload, and figure out a way to address it and have some sort of non-school life. Senior year I took 6 APs, and I found it to be considerably easier than Junior year because I was used to the work (and nothing that wasn’t graded was done because I was a Senior…).

In regards to your parents, point to results. If you’re getting As, they really can’t complain. Emphasize that your success is due to you system of approaching your responsibilities and that down time is an essential part of that. Basically, tell them you get the grades, so let you do things your way. Obviously, you have to keep your grades up for this to work.

Grading notes SUCKS ASS. I have never taken notes in my life. A few teachers weren’t okay with it, but I found if you talk to them seriously and explain that you feel like you learn better in class if you don’t have to take notes and can devote your entire attention to listening. Generally, your taking the initiative combined with some sort of promise to take full notes if your method proves unsuccessful generally works.

Finally, the MOST IMPORTANT THING to avoiding burnout is to have fun. It doesn’t have to be constant, but try to do something you really enjoy every week, and try to have some sort of relaxation time every night, even if it means going to bed later than you want. Burnout will kill your grades and fuck up your high school life in general.

Finally I meet someone who agrees with me on the notes issue. I’m semi used to the work load since I did take 5 AP tests last year as well…well the teachers didn’t give out as much homework as this year. =/
I’m self studying physics basically because we don’t have an AP Physics teacher.
About talking to the teacher about the notes, I think I’m going to try that and press my luck xD
And my parents do complain even if I get A’s because I’m always slacking off at home. so yeah. =/

When your parents complain, point out that you get A’s. Simply because you approach the same challenge (doing well in school and getting good grades) differently does not mean it is wrong or bad. In this case, the ends really justifying the means. Remind them that there is no advantage to getting an A+, and burning yourself out would make your grades drop harshly. Basically, “I’m getting the grades you want, so STFU.” A bit more elegance is probably recommendable though.

Man, I haven’t been able to leave the house for a few weeks now. I’ve had to resort to MW2 to keep me from going insane.

Also, why Skullcandy?

Dat Subwoofer.
And they were 30 dollars off from their original price of 70 big ones.

Just listen to that “Chip Tunes” Misa song. I’m calling BS on that. Having one “chip tune” sound and the rest be traditional computer-generated music does not make it a chip tune.

THIS is a chiptune (with awesome gameplay combined!?!?)
