ParticipantCompanies will be started, producing their own factory-grown weed. Third-world countries will be outsourced for better fertile grounds for growing the crops, more and more sweatshops open, and the world’s IQ drops.

ParticipantI say legalize it. The less people who can tell their feet from their hands and make it to their jobs during the day means more employment opportunities for me!
Ok, that was kind of a joke.
On a more serious note, I still say legalize it for matters of consistency. Alcohol and cigarettes are legal, so why weed isn’t just doesn’t make any logical sense, considering that it’s a far less dangerous substance. And I say legalize LSD too while we’re at it. Hell, lets just legalize every drug, I never agreed with concepts like the sanctity and longevity of human life anyway.

ParticipantI’m a bit ambivalent about legalization of marijuana. The only reason I’d really want to legalize it would be for the sin taxes. And there’s the whole reverse psychology argument. Banned = more people want it. But really, I’m more inclined to side with those who want to keep it banned. Hell, if I had my way, I’d eradicate cigarettes and alcohol from the world too. But that ain’t happening.
So, in short, keep it banned. I get pissed off enough walking past smokers and huffing their second hand smoke. I can stand to not walk past someone blazing it and huffing their funny smoke.

ParticipantMaybe give all smokers and blazers their own little greenhouse they can take a hit in so that smoke-free populous can walk by without dying from second-hand bullshit.
14 October 2009 at 14:38 #17119Vicelin
ParticipantWell, if the public non-smoking agenda keeps rolling along like it has been, second-hand smoke will be a complaint of the past anyway.
But seriously, considering that marijuanna screws with the brain just as much as alcohol, I doubt many people will be smoking it in public even if it became legal, because there will probably be laws preventing them from driving while they’re high.
Oh, and don’t be hatin’ the substance, hate the idiots who use them irresponsibly. Recreational drugs are fine when used in moderation, and responsibly.

ParticipantDon’t kill me for this, and I know this in the serious section, but it’s ironic that this thread number is the Number of the Beast, which disallows me from posting this comment. O wai-
On topic: Weed is bad. It should only be used for medical purposes (easing the pain of cancer patients who are at high risk of death… at least make their final days more restful). “Recreational” use of marijuana is bad. Studies show the health detriments are worse than cigarettes. Amirite?

ParticipantArladerus said: “Recreational” use of marijuana is bad. Studies show the health detriments are worse than cigarettes. Amirite?Actually, that isn’t true. + marijuana isn’t nearly as addictive as cigarettes, due to lack of nicotine. + marijuana smokers tend to smoke a lot less than cigarette smokers.
I would cite my sources, but my source consists of someone else who had cited their sources, except I can’t find where that other person had cited his sources. =.=

Nobody I know smokes cigarettes, compared to the vast multitudes of those who “use” weed

ParticipantSo treat it like alcohol. Illegal to use in public (you can get high in bars all you like) and you cannot drive with a certain ratio of grams:blood millions. xD

ParticipantI cant agree on the legalization of all drugs. Doing that is basically saying its socially acceptable to do heroin and crack, even if its frowned up.
I know that sounds kinda bad, but think of it like:
We tell our kids not to smoke, blah blah, its bad for your health, but when you walk around town and people smoke, you think nothing of it.
If we allow all hard drugs to be legalized, its like saying its okay for people to shoot up heroin on the streets.Legalize weed, go ahead, just leave the other, more harmful drugs as they are.

ParticipantI think people only get “addicted” to weed because they believe that smoking weed will solve all their problems. It’s the same reason as someone who goes to a bar to drink or some crackhead who sniffs because he thinks his life is utter crap and thinks that doing drugs will let him deal with it better. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve asked everyone I know who does weed WHY they do it in the first place and have gotten the same exact response from EVERYONE. That they do it because it helps them deal with their “shitty” life better which I think is just a retarded way of saying that they are emo and they don’t know/don’t want to “deal with it” or because they think they’ll go psycho balistic and get all homicidal and whatnot without weed to chill them out. Of course other factors are in place. Such as people who do it to fit in.
Personally, I’d never smoke weed. Everyone at my old high school does it. EVERYONE. And more than 90% of the people there who smoke weed end up never graduating and ultimately dropping out because they spent more time sitting around and blazing rather than thinking comprehensible thoughts and putting even a little time into their studies. It makes you stupid and fat basically. But that’s just my opinion. I could care less about who else does it, as long as they don’t try to force it on me or anyone else, or at least try to take measures that will prevent influencing anyone else. I live in a place where smoking weed is almost a way of life for these people and since everyone in every building smokes it, it has a habit of wafting around and most of the time I’m exposed to it unwillingly.
Basically, I don’t care whether it’s legalized or not. As long as I’m not exposed to it or as long as people stop trying to get me to get into their retarded ass trend.
22 October 2009 at 01:17 #17381True13lue
ParticipantAlso, I think people are gonna have a loooot of angry parents on their hands if weed is legalized.
I have to admit though that if I were a parent, I wouldn’t be happy about knowing that my kid can screw up their body all they want. I don’t want my kid to be fat and stupid.
I don’t want my kid to conform into that.So if it is legalized, be prepared.
