How come VuTales doesn’t really get any new users? Over the span of my ~6 months being here, I’ve seen two new users. One who hasn’t visited for several weeks, and the other who is fairly active. Is it because nobody tells their friends about the site? Or because people simply don’t want to join? Or because nobody knows that the site exists?
Whatever the reason is, I think need more users.Anyway, I’m in charge of the website of a private server that was rank 10 on gtop several days ago (which is a good measurement of popularity of a maplestory private server). I’d like to put a link to VuTales on the website. We get about new 70~100+ accounts every day, which is about as many users VuTales currently has.
Of course, I want Vusys’s permission to do this, because it may bring in spammers, and immature people. The server is a low rate server, and I personally think that the majority of the population is quite nice.So Vusys, let me know if I can put a link, and the rest of you can also tell me if this is a good or bad idea

Well, if they are friendly, I may well approve of it.
They’re pretty much assholes from what I’ve seen so far. Of the people I’ve met, 1/1 or 100% of them are bigoted moderators who are too cool to descend from their high throne and mingle with the common folk. I go in there asking if I could play with them since I got hacked in the regular version, and then I try talking to MacRS about video games only to get banned!

Please go ahead if you wish, I certainly don’t mind. More integration would make a partnership look a little better. Not really sure what though. We used to have a forum subsection for VuMS back in the day. But using a bespoke CMS, it would be pretty hard for me to host your forums though. Maybe host announcements here – I could make you some Javascript to place VuTales blogs on 3rd party sites.
Either way, a link would be nice. I would just like to do more to make it a fair exchange.

Edit: If you could tell me over the next few days if the site is actually getting new traffic, that would be greatlol, VuTales doesn’t get a lot of new users because it’s based on a dead community. It also has no clear direction as far as what exactly the site’s purpose is for. Right now it’s just a hangout for people who used to be on MMOT.
I think also most of the old blood from MMOT have grown pretty apathetic about this place, sadly. You get what you put in. Thus, no new users.

Yeah yeah, we need a mission statement or w/e it is that other sites have. “How was your MMO day?”, “When you feel the tingle, apply the cream”, etc.
Lets be honest. The most active users on this site are people who used to be in MMOT. Most of those people dont have the same time they do to post blogs. A majority of us are in college now and typing about our day, be it MMO related or real life, isn’t a top priority anymore. Its sad to say but it is true.
I don’t think people may get the idea. sure, we do, but someone who bumps into the site and just gets a front page with stuff and sidebars with more stuff and stuff everywhere and stuff on the corners and stuff elsewhere won’t really understand what’s going on. Showing a splash page to someone that isn’t logged in / doesn’t have a vutales cookie (the cookie may just indicate to not to show the splash) explaining what the site is and a register form for those that liked the idea and wanted to register.
