Chapter 2
The Device
I blocked the knife with my gun, and sprinted around the thief. I shot my gun rapidly hoping to get the perfect shot. It seemed as if he was toying with me somewhat, because the whole time he was grinning. I quickly slipped a grenade out of my bag, and threw it towards him. He got out of with no difficulties whatsoever. I was running out of energy, and he wasn't. He was wearing me down to my very end, and wearing my ammo down too. I had about two clips left. I took the ammo, and slipped it into my gun. One clip left now. I tried to get the perfect shot on him. Bam. My bullet went straight through his leg. I went to go check if he was still alive, but I managed to find a strange device. It was blue, and it had a bunch of mysterious writings on it, which I couldn't understand.
I fiddled around with it for a little hoping to figure something out, but that didn't work at all. It kept leading me to the screen with odd writings on it or something with dots at it. I slipped it in my bag. I planned to take it to a scientist in Henesys. His name was Michael. Although, I doubt he is alive anymore since Henesys is under attack by the Ossyrians. The only three remaining Victorian cities are Sleepywood, Kerning City, and Ellina. Kerning City isn't going to last by the looks of it. Ellina is the strongest town in all of Victoria, and Sleepywood is in the center of Victoria, guarded by many monsters. Perion was scarcely populated, so that town was easily overrun.
I tried to find a cab as I walked down the street of Kerning, but all I could find was some minor fires nobody is bothering to put out, and flipped cars. This was a bad sign, Kerning was beginning to crumble by the Ossyrians. I found a few spare clips in the city. This saved me some money.
As I was walking, I saw a figure sprinting very fast. In a matter of 30 seconds, he caught up to me.
“They're here,” he screamed, “run!” The man continued running after he said that.
I stayed aware of my surroundings. It didn't take long for tons of Ossyrian soldiers to start appearing. They didn't notice me yet, for I have stayed hidden. I crept into a nearby ally, and peered out from the side of the building. The soldiers were getting rather close, and if I didn't do anything I would be toast. I tried to handle the situation calmly, and quickly slipped out a grapple hook from my bag. Then I aimed for the top of the building, and shot it. I made sure it was safe to climb. I could hear the Ossyrians talking, and so I quickly started climbing up the side of the building. Then I took my hand, and flipped myself over the side of the building.
“I saw something!” said a voice.
“What did you see?”
“I'm positive I just saw a person climb onto the top of the building!”
“Just stick an explosive to it, and we will have no concerns at all.”
The Ossyrians all snickered. There was about forty of them, and I was almost positive. There was no way I couldn't fight them. I readied my grapple hook, and shot it again. This time it caught onto a crane about eighty above me. I then heard a loud beep. Now was the time to do it. It was either I climbed the rope, or fall through a building. I started pulling myself up the rope. I knew I was going to be shot at by the soldiers since they probably heard my grapple hook hit the metal crane.
I was pulling myself up with one hand, and fighting off Ossyrians with my gun in the other hand. It's really not the easiest thing to do if you think about it.
“Agh!” I yelped in pain.
I got hit in the leg with an arrow. It didn't go deep, but it did hurt. My nervous system is messed up ever since I got shot. The pain was pretty much on and off. I dropped my gun, and started climbing the rope. The Ossyrians kept shooting at me, but all I got were flesh wounds. I eventually reached the top.
I couldn't run anymore, or at least needed bandages to ease the bleeding. Then I reached over my shoulder, and opened my bag. I took the bandages out, and tied a tight knot. The soldiers kept shooting at me. They cornered me, and I had nowhere to go. Nowhere.
I was sitting on the crane. Ossyrians were climbing nearby buildings, and getting ready to shoot at me. They had a cannon prepared on the top of one building. It was the end for me. They soldier was getting ready to fire the cannonball, but then he just dropped dead. All the Ossyrians, one by one, dropped dead. I saw a person going at a high-speed killing all the soldiers; although, it did take me awhile to figure it out.
The Ossyrians weren't focused on me anymore. It was more of the bandit that they were focused on than me. The soldiers didn't stand a chance against this bandit. Just one person killed about forty people. The bandit then appeared next to me on the crane.
“Who are you?” I questioned.
“I don't know.” he replied.
