In all honesty, the title seems horrifically ironic considering not too long ago (see: a few blogs down) that I just posted a blog that endorsed the game. But it’s a reality that I will face.
Puzzle Pirates is dead. Well, okay, it’s not dead. You can still log in, play games and stuff. It’s more like in a coma… and its limbs have been amputated off.
None of the ocean masters have blogged in a year. The news updates are petty, filled with limited edition ships that we don’t need and portraits that we rarely pay attention to. The forums update a few posts a day, across the board. Populations in-game congregate around one island; the rest are bait for blockading and raising revenue. Taking any ship larger than a fanchuan out for a pillage and you’ll be waiting a half an hour for the thing to fill.
Despite all of that, the community is still kicking with something equivalent to a pulse. It’s probably the reason that I still play; it’s probably the reason the game’s still alive.
For how long, I don’t know.
